Hollywood studios are going digital and small-town theaters must make the costly upgrade or “go dark”. The Wayne Theatre is among them!
THE WAYNE THEATRE NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT TO MAKE THE NECESSARY TRANSITION TO DIGITAL CINEMA!
The time has come for this small-town movie theatre to make the switch to digital cinema. Hollywood studios are making only a handful of 35mm prints of their films, the bulk are being distributed on digital hard drives. It’s anticipated that by the end of 2013, 35mm prints will no longer be produced, leaving small theaters, like the Wayne Theatre, no choice but to make the costly conversion to digital projection equipment, or shut their doors. Small community theaters are unable to pay for this very expensive transition to digital projection equipment, which averages around $60,000 per screen.
To that end, a KICKSTARTER campaign has been launched to help usher the Wayne Theatre into the next era of cinema technology and ensure it continues to be a living legacy for decades to come.
